The latest fire in New Mexico broke out on Sunday afternoon, as I write this a mandatory evacuation order has been issued for residents of Los Alamos. Last night at sunset I took photos of what I later found out were not clouds but smoke plumes from the Las Conchas fire.
While not all wildfires can be avoided, the majority of those still burning were due to human carelessness, or just plain stupidity. At this point in time there is no one with an IQ higher than a brick that can still not be aware of the elevated fire danger throughout the state.
Check out this piece by Tracy Dingmann talking to fire and emergency officials last Friday on KNME-TV.
For information on closures and other fire related information in New Mexico check NM Fire Info .
While the fires have provided great photo opportunities, I prefer to take pictures as clear as the full moon below.
PLEASE – refrain from setting off fireworks this 4th of July. Thank you.

Chamisa Moon. Moonrise over Sandia mountains - no smoke in air.
No offense, but i suggest admin adding a google+ button for easy share!

The governor’s hands are tied by state laws that prohibit her from issuing an executive order banning fireworks sales.
Lots of demands to revisit state law, including from Albuquerque Mayor Berry.
Will be interesting to see if they remember next January.

Can't believe they allow firework sales when the fire danger is so high. More insanity in the name of commercialism/capitalism.
